Which Cuyahoga County families qualify for the child care subsidy?
Families with gross income below 145% of poverty when they apply, whose children are younger than 13, or younger than 18 with a disability. From October 1, 2026 that line is $3,988 a month for a family of four. Once enrolled, a family stays eligible up to 300% of poverty ($8,250 a month for four). The same rules apply in Lake, Lorain, Geauga and Medina counties.
What is the Ohio Child Care Choice Voucher?
Help for employed parents whose income is too high for the subsidy's 145% entry line yet no higher than 200% of poverty, which is $5,500 a month for a family of four from October 1, 2026. Families apply through Ohio Benefits.
Can the child care subsidy pay for aftercare at a private school?
Only when the school's before- or after-school program is a participating child care provider. No voucher pays for aftercare, so ask the school whether its extended-day program is enrolled in Ohio's subsidy system.
