Grades 7-12 · free tuition when funded

College Credit Plus for Private School Students

Ohio's dual-enrollment program is open to private school students in grades 7-12. When the parent's funding request is approved, tuition at a public college such as Tri-C or Lorain County Community College costs the family nothing.

How does a private school family in Cleveland get College Credit Plus funded?

The parent, not the student, sets up an OH|ID account and submits a funding application with the college acceptance letter. The full-year window runs February 1 to April 1 at 5 p.m.; a spring-only window runs September 1 to November 1 at 5 p.m. Full-year decisions post by May 6 and spring decisions by December 6.

The student also completes the school counseling requirement before the term begins.

Which Northeast Ohio colleges take College Credit Plus students?

All of Ohio's public colleges participate, which puts Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C), Cleveland State University, Lorain County Community College, Lakeland Community College in Kirtland and Kent State's Geauga campus within reach, along with certain private colleges. Your high school counselor knows which campus most students use.

Does College Credit Plus use up the Cleveland Scholarship or EdChoice?

No. The state funds College Credit Plus separately from the vouchers, so a junior on an $8,408 award can take Tri-C courses without reducing it.
