Which scholarship granting organizations are based in Greater Cleveland?
The Attorney General's 2026 certified list includes 18 with addresses in the five counties. The largest by reach is the Angel Scholarship Fund of the Catholic Community Foundation, which serves Diocese of Cleveland schools. Several high schools run their own: St. Ignatius (Wildcat Ohio Tax Credit Fund), Saint Joseph Academy, Magnificat, Beaumont, Benedictine (BengalSGO), Saint Martin de Porres and Notre Dame Schools in Chardon (LionSGO).
Others include the Lutheran Scholarship Granting Organization of Ohio (Lutheran West and East Triumph Funds), the Julie Billiart Network's Sunflower Ohio Tax Credit Fund, the Heights Tax Credit Fund and Give For Kids Scholarship Fund in University Heights, the Lyceum Scholarship Fund, Hearthside Christian Scholarship Fund in Brunswick, EA Academy SGO, American Scholarship Network, Bluestone Hibernian Charities and 1 BBH BEES SGO.
How does a grandparent's gift become a scholarship at our school?
An Ohio taxpayer gives to a certified SGO and takes a dollar-for-dollar state credit, up to $750 a year or $1,500 on a joint return. With the Angel Scholarship Fund the donor can name a specific diocesan school or the area of greatest need. Gifts made by April 15 count for the prior tax year.
Can an SGO award stack on top of a voucher?
Usually. SGO money is private, so a school can apply it to the balance after the Cleveland Scholarship or EdChoice. Each SGO and school decides the order, so ask the business office how awards are applied.
