Which public buildings around Cleveland are EdChoice-designated for 2026-27?

DEW's 2026-2027 list designates 67 open buildings in the five counties, spread over 13 districts: Lorain City (15), Elyria City (8), Bedford City (7), Euclid City (7), East Cleveland City (5), Garfield Heights City (5), Maple Heights City (5), Cleveland Heights-University Heights City (4), Painesville City Local (3), Warrensville Heights City (3), Richmond Heights Local (2), Clearview Local (2), Fairport Harbor Exempted Village (1). By county that is 38 in Cuyahoga, 25 in Lorain and 4 in Lake; Geauga and Medina have none.

Why is no Cleveland Metropolitan School District building on the list?

Because city students have their own voucher. Children who live inside the CMSD boundary use the Cleveland Scholarship, which needs no designated building and no income test, so the designated list matters to suburban and Lorain County families.

What does a designated building mean for our child?

When your child's 2026-27 assignment is one of these buildings, traditional EdChoice pays the full $6,166 for K-8 or $8,408 for 9-12 with no income test. Eligibility follows the assigned building, whether or not your child attends it today.

How does DEW choose the designated buildings?

Through performance-index rankings over recent years combined with Title I poverty measures. A building can qualify under an academic-distress test or a bottom-20%-ranking-plus-poverty test, and DEW's spreadsheet shows which test each one met.
