Greater Cleveland is the only part of Ohio with two different voucher systems side by side. Which one a child uses turns on an attendance boundary that does not follow city limits or ZIP codes, and the rules on income and high school tuition differ between them. Add diocesan aid, a long list of school-based tax-credit funds and a county preschool program, and it is a lot for one family to piece together. Cleveland Edu Funding lays it out in one place.
A tuition counselor reviews each funding check and follows up by phone. Where a school or organization partners with us, the page says so, and it does not change what we recommend.
Where the school records come from
Two public datasets sit underneath every listing. From Washington, the NCES Private School Survey: the 2023-24 round, or 2021-22 where a school did not answer the newer one, for enrollment, grade span, religious tradition, staffing and memberships. From Columbus, a statewide Ohio Educational Directory System (OEDS) extract dated October 28, 2026, for the IRN, mailing address, phone and website of every chartered nonpublic school. We matched the two on name, street address and ZIP code, checked the uncertain pairs by hand and removed six duplicate federal rows. Chartered schools the federal survey missed, 51 of them, were added from OEDS, and schools on DEW's 2026-27 non-chartered list are flagged.
That gives 243 schools: 181 chartered, 4 on the non-chartered list, and the rest, mostly preschools and 38 Amish parochial schools, on neither. Amish schools and other small schools without a state listing or a website appear only as table rows. DEW's scholarship provider directory cannot be downloaded in bulk, so our "chartered" flag shows which schools are the right type, and each school confirms its own participation.
For the money side we rely on primary documents: DEW's December 2025 fact sheets and request forms for the Cleveland Scholarship and both EdChoice programs, DEW's income table and award workbook, the FY2027 amount sheets for Jon Peterson and the Autism Scholarship, and DEW's designated-building spreadsheet (pulled October 30, 2026). Early-years figures come from Ohio Department of Children and Youth Procedure Letter 45 and Cuyahoga County's UPK page; Catholic aid from the Diocese of Cleveland; SGOs from the Ohio Attorney General's 2026 certification list. Tuition is not reported to the state; schools can add it by claiming their listing.
